Actor-singer Nicholas Tse Ting-fung spoke of his troubled marriage for the first time yesterday, more than a month after rumours began circulating about a possible divorce from actress Cecilia Cheung Pak-chi.
'Our marriage has certain problems ... I don't know how to carry on now,' he said yesterday at a press conference in Beijing to promote his new film, Treasure Inn.
'I had heard of her attacks on me, but in our mobile phone text message exchanges yesterday she said, 'I love you and I miss you'. I believe [her],' he added.
Both Tse and Cheung grew up in divorced families but they had hoped, at the time their first child was born, that their children would not suffer the same experience, he said.
A bitter contest is expected over custody of their children - three-year-old Lucas and one-year-old Quintus. Both are reportedly preparing documents to end their five-year marriage.
The crisis was sparked by Cheung taking a picture with singer and actor Edison Chen Koon-hei on a plane last month, which infuriated Tse. In a scandal that erupted in 2008, explicit photos of the two engaging in various sex acts were posted on the internet along with other girlfriends of Chen.
