Bathing Ape T-shirt jazzes up Shawn Yue's singing career - or is it the other way round?
Most people know him only as an actor, but Shawn Yue Man-lok had always aimed to become a Canto-pop star as well. The 29-year-old launched a special edition of his latest album in a collaboration with streetwear brand A Bathing Ape on Monday night in Causeway Bay.
The album, N.A.S. (Not a Star), comes with a T-shirt designed by A Bathing Ape founder Nigo and is on sale for a whopping HK$999.
Even Yue conceded it was a bit pricey, but reasoned that the shirt was a 'limited edition'.
'Only 100 tees were made and they're on sale only in Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo, Taiwan and Hong Kong,' he said. 'I've had some friends calling wanting a shirt, and I couldn't say yes.'
The star, who came to fame in the role of the young Chan Wing-yan in Infernal Affairs, said he wouldn't complain at seeing bootleg versions of the shirt.
'That means there's demand for it, right? Having [fake shirts] is better than having none,' he said.
