Rita Fan leads field for 2017 poll, survey finds

If there were a direct election for the chief executive in 2017, Rita Fan Hsu Lai-tai could win, according to a telephone survey of 829 people in April by the Hong Kong Transition Project. Some 28 per cent backed Fan, followed by 17 per cent for former chief secretary Anson Chan Fang On-sang, 15 per cent for Chief Secretary Henry Tang Ying-yen and 3 per cent for Executive Council convenor Leung Chun-ying. The survey showed no consensus existed among Hongkongers on who should be the city's leader, project leader Michael DeGolyer said.

Emily Lau to make new bid for Legco inquiry

Democratic Party vice-chairwoman Emily Lau Wai-hing will move at the last Legco session before the recess, July 13, to set up a select committee to investigate claims of political interference in the selection process for a government-funded internet education programme.
