How I Sold 1 Million E-books in 5 Months!
by John Locke
Telemachus Press (e-book)

John Locke uses exclamation marks freely. His writing advice is simplistic. And he is brazenly promotional. But, as the title indicates, he has found success by following his own rules and refusing to be cowed by accusations of vanity publishing, which he says were 'invented by traditional publishers ... to squash the competition from entrepreneurial authors'. Pricing his Kindle series of mystery-thriller novels at US$0.99 (from which he makes a 35 cent profit), he writes that famous authors would find it hard to prove their books are 10 times better than his. His 'selling system', which relies on his website, tweets and blogs, helped him to offload 1,100,000 e-books in five months and to become the first self-published author to reach No1 on the Amazon/Kindle best-sellers' list. He advises e-authors to post Loyalty Transfer blogs to their target audience and use Twitter to create a viral circle. Locke is proud of his books, but some might shudder at his conclusion: 'Your writing doesn't have to be really good. It just has to be effective.'
