A Visit from the Goon Squad

A Visit from the Goon Squad
by Jennifer Egan
Constable and Robinson (e-book Special Edition)

Jennifer Egan's extraordinary fifth novel has enjoyed the kind of success most authors dream about: it won this year's Pulitzer Prize and beat Jonathan Franzen's Freedom to the National Book Critics Circle Award. A vivacious, ambitious, and massively entertaining collection of interlinked narratives, it zips through time and space to tell several stories about many people: a kleptomaniac on a date; a young punk in a band called the Flaming Dildos; a tale in the Africa bush; a man looking for his niece in Naples. Constable and Robinson have now produced an App for iPhone and iPad which adds new dimensions to Egan's masterpiece. There is an audio version synched with the text, read by Roxana Ortega. Picking up on the novel's obsession with pop music, there are old-fashioned liner notes, in which Egan discusses her inspirations. Best of all, the now notorious PowerPoint chapter looks splendid. Whether virtual or paper, the Goon Squad is apptastic.

Extras: liner notes, audiobook sync, tracklisting, author notes, chapter shuffle and an extract from Egan's next novel, Look at Me
