Embryos mixed up due to human error
Two embryos belonging to one woman were transferred to another by mistake at a reproductive treatment centre due to the failure of a junior embryologist to check the labelling of the embryos. The Council on Human Reproductive Technology said the case was reported by the centre, Victory ART Laboratory, last Monday. The council said it would not suspend the centre's licence, as the error involved was human rather than systematic, and it was satisfied with remedial measures taken in the wake of the incident.
2,300 show up for police recruitment day
The police held a recruitment day and attracted about 2,300 hopefuls. Chief inspector of the recruitment division Francis Cheung Kwok-wai said the recruitment day targeted secondary school leavers. The force aims to enrol 920 people this year, including 170 inspectors and 750 constables.
Butterfly species spotted in park a first for city
A butterfly of the species Libythea myrrha recently found at the Hong Kong Wetland Park was a first for the city. The butterfly, from the family Libytheidae, is characterised by an extremely long snout. The park has recorded 152 species of butterflies, including some uncommon ones.
