People who commute between the Sheung Wan and Admiralty MTR stations will have to take a free shuttle bus for three days next month.

The MTR is providing a free shuttle bus service between the two stations from August 5 to 7, as the Sheung Wan station will be closed for track works on the West Island Line that is under construction.

The track works are expected to last 54 hours, and are slated for completion in the early morning of August 8. They are preparations for the connection of the new line to the existing Island Line.

An average of 40,000 to 50,000 passengers use the Sheung Wan station daily. MTR services will end at 11.30pm on August 5.

The shuttle buses, which will take between 12 and 15 minutes to travel between the two stations, will run every two to four minutes during normal train service hours.

During the closure period, people heading to Central on Hong Kong Island will have to change to the Tsuen Wan Line at Admiralty, which will be the Island Line's temporary terminus.
