It seems night life in Quarry Bay has always been underrated. Now the hip area, home of plenty of public relation agencies, media corporations and IT firms is starting to keep apace.

Press Room Group's freshly opened The News Room restaurant and bar, which has taken the space of Cafe Einstein, held its first of several monthly mixers on Thursday.

The event 'Liberation Conversation' offers happy hour promotions and has Stattus' music director and owner Simon Pang Washford behind the DJ booth to spin what he calls 'music to drink by'.

Washford has a studio in nearby North Point and has many clients based in Quarry Bay. He is a regular at the bars and restaurants in the area, after work and even at weekends.

'There are so many creative people working here. Why does it always have to be Central, Soho or Tsim Sha Tsui where we go for happy hour drinks, why not Quarry Bay,' he said. 'It's even better now we can do it with music.'

But he might want to turn the music down just a notch so creative conversations can flow even smoother.
