Ultraman's never-ending battle with giant alien monsters has been running since the mid-1960s. The intergalactic peacekeeper has fought off numerous super-sized monsters bent on wreaking havoc on Earth. To mark the 45th anniversary of Ultraman, Tsuburaya Productions is presenting Ultraman Retsuden, a biography series that chronicles the battles of the various Ultramen, with clips of their monster encounters over the years. Fans can enjoy rewatching some of the most climactic battles from the last 45 years. The show first premiered on TV Tokyo on July6 and is to run until March next year. Episode Two features the battle between Ultraman and the space ninja monster from the planet Baltan: Episode Three introduces Ultraman Tiga, who battles with not one but two evil space alien monsters, Golza and Melba. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for this series to show up on Hong Kong television. To celebrate the anniversary, Daniel and Co, the local distributor of Bandai Toys, is holding an Ultraman v Monster contest in collaboration with Toys 'R' Us. In the store at Ocean Terminal, there is a showcase filled with Ultraman's various enemy monsters. Participants have to guess how many there are; the person with the closest answer will win the grand prize, a Sony PlayStation 3. The contest closes on September 5.
