Appeal bids in Mandy Tam electoral bribery case
A prosecutor and lawyers for former lawmaker Mandy Tam Heung-man, acquitted of electoral bribery in May, attended a hearing at Eastern Court yesterday. Both sides are seeking an appeal. Tam had been charged over an education seminar she gave two days before polling day in the 2008 Legislative Council elections.
Woman recovering from flesh-eating bug
A woman, 61, infected with flesh-eating bacterial disease is in stable condition in Queen Mary Hospital after being placed in intensive care last week with symptoms of fever, vomiting and diarrhoea.
Man held for misleading police over car crash
A man, 24, was arrested on suspicion of misleading police after a car hit traffic signs and rolled on its side in Minden Avenue, Tsim Sha Tsui, at 6.45am yesterday. The man said he was driving but was arrested when this was proven false, police said.
