Lawmakers delay move to new site for one week
Legco's move to the Tamar site in Admiralty has been postponed for one more week, despite lawmakers' 'non-negotiable' deadline that should have been met yesterday. The Legco Secretariat said not all electronic systems were ready. Secretary general Pauline Ng Man-wah will visit the new site today to check on the latest progress of 'the self-testing systems and other fitting-out work' at the complex.
Possible electrocution death under investigation
The Labour Department is investigating an industrial accident in which a worker died in Tsim Sha Tsui yesterday. The 42-year-old man was found unconscious outside a mezzanine-floor shop in Canton Road at about 4pm. He later died in hospital. It is thought he was electrocuted.
Police on the hunt for boat-burning arsonist
An arsonist is being sought by police after a motorised sampan was damaged in an attack off Sai Kung early yesterday. Emergency crews were called in when the seven-metre boat anchored off Che Keng Tuk burst into flames at 3.14am.
