Hong Kong's youngest water polo shone bright at last weekend's 13th Asia Pacific tournament.
Goalie Kenneth Cheng Ka-long, playing alongside his two brothers twin Kamil Cheng Ka-hin and Kelvin Cheng Ka-ki, produced incredible saves in the intense titler-decider against Guangdong.
The 16-year-old Asian Games representative stayed calm even under great pressure in the first period. Although he let in some shots in later periods, his coach lavished praise on the young player.
'I played in Team B last year so I was feeling more pressure now,' Ka-long conceded. 'But it was nice to play with my elder brother Kelvin and twin, Kamil. This was our first time to play together at an international tournament.'
New recruit Gary Fung Kong-ching, captain of Hong Kong men's B team, also excelled at the tournament. He joined the national team only after the Lunar New Year holiday in February.
Yet in less than six months of training, Gary, 16, has shown great improvement. He was even named the B team's captain for the tournament. 'I've improved a lot,' he said. 'I am grateful to my team and coach for offering me many chances to train and play.'
