China Unicom adds another 2m subscribers

China Unicom (Hong Kong), the country's second-biggest wireless network operator, yesterday reported 183.736 million mobile subscribers as of the end of last month. The Beijing-based company, Apple's sole mainland carrier-partner for the iPhone, added 2.126 million new subscribers, including 1.874 million users on its WCDMA-standard 3G network. The company's fixed-line business had 52.991 million broadband users and 94.967 million local-access subscribers.
