Paramore
AsiaWorld-Expo, Aug 14

One of the smaller halls at AsiaWorld-Expo was overflowing with energy last Sunday night as fans of alternative rock group Paramore awaited the band's live performance. It was the Tennessee rock band's first concert in Hong Kong since they formed six years ago, and the first leg of a four-city Asian tour that included stops in Bali, Jakarta and Singapore.

Amid an explosion of electric guitars and pounding drum beats, the band made their entrance. Lead singer Hayley Williams bounced across the stage, her fiery red hair glowing under the bright stage lights, and the band launched into the high-octane tracks Ignorance and Feeling Sorry, both from their latest album, Brand New Eyes.

To give the audience a breather, the band sat down for a three-song acoustic performance of When It Rains, Where the Lines Overlap and Misguided Ghosts. The highlight of the night came when the band performed the ballad The Only Exception as a waterfall of sparkles rained down behind them.

Paramore returned to the stage for a two-song encore that began with the insanely energetic Brick By Boring Brick and ended with Misery Business that saw more onstage high jinks from the band's lead guitarist and bassist. The concert was made even more unforgettable for two fans when they were invited on stage to sing the last part of the song.
