Ocean Park will survey Hongkongers over plans to buy 'near threatened' belugas from Russia for a new display.
Keith McNab - Whales should remain in the ocean where they belong. It's cruel and inhumane to capture them, remove them from their natural habitat and keep them in a confined space. And for what? So that people can look at them for a few minutes before moving on to the next exhibit.
Bjorn Berg - They should only be taken from the wild if it will help the species survive (by raising conservation awareness among people who visit Ocean Park). If not, I'd rather have them out in the wild so the species has a better chance of replenishing its numbers there.
On police action to hem in students and alumni 200 metres from the University of Hong Kong's 100th birthday celebrations where Vice-Premier Li Keqiang was speaking:
Richard Lim - It is a shameful act of the HK police force. It also contradicted the policy of harmony strongly boosted by the [People's Republic]!
Sam Ho - Hong Kong is becoming more and more undemocratic, with freedom of speech stifled.
