For a country in the financial pages for the wrong reasons, Spain remains popular with investors who love what the beautiful country has to offer. While the Bank of Spain predicts a further 10 per cent drop before the property market stabilises, some believe prices have bottomed out. According to Nick Stuart, managing director of internet estate agency Spanish Hot Properties, while the lower end falls, the top end 'seems to know no limits'. Stuart says homes up to GBP20 million (HK$257 million) are still in high demand. 'Historically, our client base for the super-luxe villa has been driven by British buyers but, as that market has tailed off, we are seeing a huge influx of interest in our multimillion-pound properties from Russian and Belgian buyers. They are not looking for bling properties, but homes which are utterly tasteful and thoughtfully put together, located away from holiday towns and truly exclusive,' he says. 'Just today we received an inquiry for a luxury Marbella villa from a Swiss client with an unlimited budget. While the market is still heavily reduced, at least in 2011, there are sales happening.' Builder Taylor Wimpey de Espana, a leading house builder, in Spain, agrees there is enough activity in the market to inspire a positive outlook. 'We are enjoying a very international clientele with precise requirements and budgets for their investments. Volatile share and gold values are pointing people once again to the security of bricks and mortar,' the company says. Villa Natasha in Las Brisas, in Marbella, has views over Las Brisas golf course and is close to Puerto Banus. Remodelled into a contemporary home that represents the highest level of design, the property has five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a home cinema and a wooden decked pool which captures the sun. It is for sale at Euro3.45 million (HK$39 million) through Spanish Hot Property. Los Altos del Golf, in Andratx on Mallorca's south coast, is a new development by Taylor Wimpey. It comprises 16 large detached houses split into two-, three- or four-bedroom town houses. Prices for a two-bedroom villa start at Euro510,000 or Euro731,000 for three bedrooms. Los Altos del Golf in Andratx in Mallorca, Spain, has large detached properties.
