You Again (Film)

If Bowling For Soup's 2006 hit, High School Never Ends, ever makes its way into a film soundtrack, You Again would be the perfect one.

Eight years ago, Marni (Kristen Bell) was your standard loser - greasy-haired, acne-ridden, and tormented by braces. She was the perfect target for her high school's mean-girl, Joanna (Odette Yustman). Marni is now a gorgeous high-powered PR professional and thinks she shed the role of high-school underdog long ago.

Then one day she realises her brother, Will (James Wolk), is marrying - horror of horrors! - Joanna, who is now a seemingly angelic humanitarian. As heart-chilling memories come flooding back, Marni decides to sabotage her brother's marriage, just as Joanna tries to drag Marni down memory lane.

To make things worse, Marni's mother, Gail (Jamie Lee Curtis), and Joanna's aunt, Ramona (Sigourney Weaver), were also high-school adversaries once. As the wedding nears, the four-way cat fight threatens to turn things into a nightmare.

Despite the occasional comic relief, You Again is only mildly funny. Marni's grandmother, Bunny (Betty White), offers some extra humour to the film as the usual 'embarrassing, dirty-mouthed grandmother' character; in fact, White merely seems to be reprising her role from the Sandra Bullock comedy, The Proposal.

You Again isn't great, but it's passable.
