Grub: Vietnamese: snacks, noodles and rice dishes, as well as a few main courses.
Vibe: This is a regular high street noodle shop. The decor is simple, clean and functional. There is a large TV on one side that was showing cartoons and is probably used for karaoke in the evenings.
Who to take: Everyone will feel comfortable here, from kids to granny, school friends or family.
What's hot: Like most small Vietnamese restaurants, there is plenty on the menu, though nothing stands out as being particularly different from the rest. But that's not necessarily a bad thing if all you want is a good bowl of noodles on your way home from school.
The snacks are good value. Satays can be ordered in multiples of two which means you can mix and match. They are served with conventional satay sauce or curry. The familiar shrimp on sugarcane is available, as are spring rolls. Well worth trying is the beef with lemongrass and chips, which are actually prawn crackers. It's a delicious snack but not very filling, unlike the noodles. There are about 15 variations of the regular pho and 10 vermicelli options. The speciality noodles have a bit of everything: chicken sausage, raw beef, brisket and sliced pork all make an appearance in a soup that is a little on the sweet side but nothing a squeeze of lime and a dash of chili can't fix. It's topped off with sprigs of mint and coriander which lend a delicious aroma.
