Doctor arrested on suspicion of molesting women

A young hospital doctor has been arrested for allegedly molesting two women patients on the same night earlier this week.

The Tseung Kwan O Hospital doctor, 26, was detained by police on Wednesday but has not been charged. He was released on bail and told to report back to police next month, a force spokeswoman said.

The alleged victims, both aged 23, were from different wards in the hospital. It is alleged the assaults took place between 10.30pm and midnight on Tuesday.

'He allegedly indecently assaulted one of them twice and the other one once,' a police officer said, adding that the first patient told the doctor her stomach was painful. She was allegedly assaulted on two occasions.

The doctor asked the second patient if she was in pain and allegedly touched her breasts.

There were no nurses present at the time of the alleged incidents. 'According to hospital guidelines, when a doctor is going to touch a woman, there must be a female nurse present,' the officer said.

The victims reported the events to nurses and they reported them to the Hospital Authority, which called in police.
