Stars and socialites defy the storms for magazine's launch night
Luxury members' club Quintessentially launched its new publication, Quintessentially Asia with a party at Entourage in SoHo, and even heavy rain and wind didn't stop Hong Kong's socialites from packing the place.
The club, which provides high-end services such as travel planning and property management for affluent individuals, reached Asia six years ago and has been growing fast. For the folks involved, a magazine catering specifically to local tastes made perfect sense.
The quarterly publication, published in two editions - English and Simplified Chinese - is headed by veteran journalist Daniel Jeffreys, who believes Hong Kong is the perfect location to reach all of Asia.
'We only had six months to put together the magazine,' Jeffreys said. 'There is nowhere else in the world where we could have launched such a high quality magazine in such a short space of time.'
Jeffreys added that the magazine was not targeting only club members, but also 'anyone with a high net worth'.
'The magazine is for people who see themselves as part of the Quintessentially world,' he said.
Socialites in attendance included actress Anna Yau Hoi-man, model Emily Zhang, and Cissy Wang, best known as Donnie Yen Ji-dan's wife. Wang was noticeably fatigued, having visited her husband on set late the night before.
'It's been rare for him to shoot a film in Hong Kong lately, so I had to go visit,' said Wang. 'But no matter how tired I was, I had to come tonight, because I'm a big fan of Quintessentially.'
