Shopping is hard work, but someone has to do it. If you need a pick-me-up while picking up bargains at Horizon Plaza, take time out to recharge at any of the following food and drink locations.
Starting right at the top on the 28th floor, there's the self-described 'chill-out cafe' at Tree, which serves hot and cold drinks, and sandwiches - with such healthy options as chicken and avocado or smoked salmon fillings. Tree Caf? also serves pies and salads, and sweet treats such as lemon cheesecake and chocolate brownies.
The spacious Tree Caf? is an ideal place to rest during a long day of shopping or to catch up on your e-mails - there is free Wi-fi and plenty of comfortable seating. One window looks out over the South China Sea and on the other side of the cafe is an open-kitchen-style window which lets you watch Tree's furniture carpenters at work.
If you bring children, let them tire themselves out in the play area while you enjoy a coffee and still keep an eye on them. Children get a free baby-cino drink and mini-cupcake every time you visit, and there's also a changing room for babies.
On the 22nd floor, you'll find Sift, a stylish patisserie whose mission is to bring the most refined French pastries, tarts, cupcakes, macaroons and chocolates to Hong Kong consumers. There's a wonderful aroma of baking as you walk in. High-quality ingredients are imported from all over the world: vanilla from Madagascar; Valrhona and Callebaut chocolate; and dairy products from France. Each pastry item is flavoured with natural ingredients such as real strawberries, cherries or rhubarb, flown in fresh.
Sift is constantly creating new designs for cupcakes. If you take a look at the day's batch of new inventions - you may find vanilla-scented lemon zest cakes, green tea ganache filling or beautiful purple-coloured sugar flowers. The 'red velvet' cupcake with cream cheese frosting is a favourite. Some days, up to a thousand cupcakes leave the kitchen here to cater to events around town.
