VALLEY moved closer to their crunch league encounter with Hong Kong Football Club when they defeated Kowloon 59-18 at Boundary Street last night. League champions Valley, beaten by Club earlier this season, ran in nine tries to Kowloon's two to join Club at the top of the First Division standings. Hong Kong internationals Isi Tu'ivai and Ashley Billington helped themselves to two tries each, with the others coming from Jamie McKee, Tom Hall, Simon Litster, Toby Bland and Jeremy Smith. Valley face Police on Tuesday in their final match before the December 10 clash with Club. Ian Brownlee's Valley must beat Club if they are to have any chance of retaining the title they won so comprehensively last season. Victory for Club would put the title out of Valley's reach while a Valley victory would result in a play-off for the title. Brownlee was happy with the victory but disappointed at his side's sloppy performance.
