SKH Bishop Baker Secondary School 10 Fung Yau Street South Yuen Long, New Territories STUDENTS of SKH Bishop Baker Secondary School have learned how to improve their school and social life through 'green education' as the school celebrates its 11th year.

As part of the school's 10th anniversary celebrations last year, students and teachers joined efforts to furnish the campus with plants and the backyard with small farms.

Principal Lai Chan Lai said students' involvement in the greening of the school helped to motivate them to contribute to the school as well as society.

'Students are like flowers and teachers like gardeners. We have to watch the flowers grow while attending to the room they need - just like we have to give students freedom while ensuring there is sufficient guidance in academic and extra-curricular areas,' said Mrs Lai, who spent two years in Australia to earn a master's degree in education (administration and management) while learning the craft of gardening.

Such nurturing of students means that their education is not purely academic. Various school committees frequently organise activities for students to explore their potential.

For instance, the Leader Training Workshop, which has been held for two years, shows young leaders the way to great leadership.
