Get your winter woollies ready and embrace the Christmas festivities early. This year's WinterFest, organised by the Tourism Board, starts on November 25. One of the highlights will be the city's first outdoor ice rink in Tsim Sha Tsui's Centenary Garden. Visitors will be able to don their skates and glide through the Ice Wonderland surrounded by Christmas lights, while fake snow falls around them. The area, a quarter the size of a public swimming pool, will accommodate about 75 visitors an hour. Skates can be rented for HK$15 in the afternoon and double that after 6pm. On the other side of the harbour, Statue Square in Central will feature an 18-metre-tall Christmas tree with a fairy-tale-like carousel with 24 seats. A ride will cost HK$50. Meanwhile, Disney's Toy Story characters came to life at Harbour City on Tuesday. Visitors can take photos with a four-metre-tall Woody and a giant Christmas tree made up of more than 500 Little Green Men plush toys.
