With a hat, a guitar, a soft voice and catchy melodies, Bruno Mars arrived on the music scene last year with his debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans.
The 10-track album (with bonus tracks depending on editions in different countries) includes such hits as Just the Way You Are, Grenade and The Lazy Song. All three singles reached the No 1 spot on British music charts. The album itself went to No 1 on the UK Albums Chart and No 3 on the US Billboard 200.
The album cover features the 25-year-old singer-songwriter - wearing his trademark hat - walking towards a high-flying rocket against a yellow background.
The album blends various styles from pop and R&B to hip hop and rock. The songs deal with different aspects of life, including romance, friendship, heartache and idleness. They are all delightful and easy on the ear.
The Lazy Song's lyrics run 'Today I don't feel like doing anything/ I just wanna lay in my bed'. Mars delivers the words with wit and fun.
Grenade, meanwhile, has a darker tone: 'I'd catch a grenade for ya ... Take a bullet straight through my brain.'
