LEAGUE leaders Hong Kong Football Club A pounded Khalsa A 5-0 as they continued their relentless assault on the Hong Kong men's First Division title at King's Park yesterday. Club, determined to wrest the league title back from arch-rivals Shaheen who have won it for the past two seasons, have annihilated all opposition so far and stand atop the standings with a far superior goal difference from Shaheen. The defending champions also won yesterday but were far from convincing in defeating Dutch A 2-1. Yesterday, Club gave a taste of their vast superiority over Khalsa, who played eight men at the back trying to stem the tide in a defensive game. Tim Andrew and Angus Emmerson both scored twice while Colin Cooper was on target once as four of the five goals came in the second half. In other First Division results, Nav Bharat A edged Hong Kong Football Club C 1-0 while KCC A beat Recreio A 2-1. Meanwhile, 12 teams have entered the annual Guru Nanak Festival one-day tournament at So Kun Po on Sunday. Defending champions Shaheen are heavily favoured to retain their trophy. in the absence of Club and KCC, who have decided to give the tournament a miss.
