Asia has some catching up to do when it comes to stylish lingerie. Apart from the ubiquitous Calvin Klein Underwear shops and the usual pricey selection of French labels at department stores such as Lane Crawford, there are few boutiques that offer a discreet service for our most intimate of fashions.
Flaunt Boutique, which opened in late September in Central, aims to provide just that. A retail space dedicated to all things 'under', Flaunt stocks a range of lingerie from the likes of Cosabella, Oroton, Pleasure State and the Little Bra Company. Many labels are from Australia or the United States, with the list including an impressive selection of new Asian designers, such as Samantha Chang (below left).
The selection at Flaunt is fun, sexy and cosmopolitan, founder Emily Ma Richardson very much catering for Hong Kong's fashion-forward set. Designs tend to be luxurious and sensual but not over the top - think well-fitted black lace, retro-inspired two-pieces courtesy of Jenna Leigh (above left; exclusive to Flaunt in Hong Kong) and not feather-trimmed, pink baby-doll nighties.
The store even stocks clever little brands such as Commando, founded by Kerry O'Brien - which has seamless products that eliminate dreaded VPLs. And the boutique offers complimentary bra fittings.
With friendly prices and pretty, practical or sophisticated styles, Flaunt Boutique is filling a niche in Hong Kong's lingerie market. It caters from cup A to cup DD, with prices stretching from HK$135 to HK$900.
