It had to happen sooner or later. As phones get smarter, and laptops become tablets, the lines are blurring between the different categories of gadgets.
Take the new Samsung Galaxy Note, for example. It has a 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED touch screen, which is much bigger than most smartphones, but not quite in the league of tablets. And while it looks very much like a phone, it is probably too big to fit in most pockets.
It might come off as a bit schizophrenic but there is genius in the Note. While the display is smaller than tablets, it offers much more precision in terms of control and navigation.
The enabling feature is the inclusion of the S Pen, which returns you to the age of the stylus. Yes, the Note is fully multi-touch enabled, but it also comes with a stylus that allows you to draw, write and interact with on-screen content much more precisely than simply using your fingers.
This feature will allow you to add comments directly to web pages, photos and even Powerpoint slides, save them as images and then send them out as email attachments, making it really simple to interact with friends.
The Note is powered by a 1.4-GHz dual-core processor running the Android v2.3 operating system, and comes with two digital cameras (8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front), 21Mbps HSDPA mobile connectivity and Wi-fi.
