Apply the green or silver; next apply the blue to the outer lid, sparingly, as it is quite dark; and use the matt black to line. The colours stay in place for hours. Estee Lauder's Pure Colour Film Noir palette (HK$370) features shimmering grey and white, taupe, a dark metallic grey and matt black. Apply lighter shades as a base coat and use the dark grey on the outer corners of the eye. Spread a thin line of black across the upper and lower lash lines. Great for smoky eyes. Clarins' Eye Quartet Mineral palettes (HK$300) each feature four shades in satin and iridescent finishes. Made with mineral pigments, the powders can be applied wet or dry. When dry, they are soft and powdery; when wet, they are creamy and rich and easier to apply. We like the pastel palette for day and the indigo palette for night.
