Tiffany lights up tree to bring Christmas sparkle to Statue Square
Whether you're one of those who can't get enough of Christmas or can't wait for the festivities to end, the holiday is only a few weeks away. In Central, shoppers and office workers got yet another reminder of that when the annual Christmas tree went up on Statue Square.
This year, it's jeweller Tiffany & Co using the spot to raise a tree - and the brand's profile, thanks to the logos festooning it.
Tiffany's director gathered with local celebrities and the Tourism Board chairman, James Tien Pei-chun, for a lighting ceremony on Friday. *
As well as an 18-metre-tall tree, there are large gift boxes, a Tiffany-blue merry-go-round, a photo booth and candy floss for sale.
Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the charity Make-A-Wish Hong Kong, which helps children suffering from life-threatening medical conditions in Hong Kong and Macau.
