A MASSAGE parlour boss who stabbed his business partner to death with a 'sacred' knife for warding off evil spirits was yesterday jailed for 21/2 years.

   Wong Kin-sun, 35, attacked Tsui Chi-hoi, 41, after convincing himself his colleague was having an affair with his wife.

  Police discovered Tsui lying in a pool of blood on a staircase landing outside the Wong Dao Finland Palace parlour in Mongkok. He had been stabbed 10 times through the heart.

 The attack happened days after Tsui removed the knives from the parlour because Wong seemed wound up.

  He was killed with the one knife left, which had been placed on the shrine altar for protection against evil spirits.

  Prosecutor Caroline Ravenscroft said Wong, also known as Lo-lo, was a co-owner of the Shanghai Street parlour, but left the running to Tsui.

   She said: 'The defendant believed that his wife was having an extramarital affair with his business partner.

   'She had left him and he didn't know her whereabouts. He felt that he was ridiculed wherever he went.

  'Tsui Chi-hoi warned the employees a few days before that Wong was tense.

  'He told them not to upset Wong in any way and to give him anything he wanted and as a precaution he hid all the knives in the establishment.'   Ms Ravenscroft said the killing happened when the defendant visited the parlour on October 6 last year.

  Wong, who was 'clearly irritable', punched and slapped Tsui after flying into a rage when it was suggested they pay the phone bill.

  The defendant then rushed into the room where two masseuses were resting and threatened to 'chop them to death' unless they found him a vegetable knife.

   When he left, the women locked themselves in the room. But they heard Tsui scream out: 'Brother Lo, have mercy on me!'   Ms Ravenscroft said usher Ng Tak-yin saw the fatal fight as he peeped through the door of another room.

  She said: 'Wong was holding a knife which he had seized from the shrine altar and Tsui was attempting to ward him off.

  'They struggled for two to three minutes and then there was silence. The defendant had stabbed Tsui 10 times with the knife.'    When police arrived minutes later they discovered a 20-centimetre bloodstained knife. Tsui was lying in a pool of blood on the third floor landing.

   Wong admitted manslaughter on the basis of diminished responsibility.

  Defence counsel Graeme Hagon told Mr Justice Duffy in the High Court that the attack on Tsui was totally out of character. He said Wong was suffering from a 'brief reactive psychosis'.

  A psychiatric report said Wong was convinced people were out to kill him.
