After six years, he's returned with a large number of projects. They include a second album, Leisure Seizure; a track, Warning Call, on DJ Shadow's new album; and a song, Film Your Own Television, with legendary guitarist Johnny Marr as part of the Ray-Ban Raw Sounds project.

I'll describe my sound ... as a genre. I developed this theory it would be called beat rock. Sometimes it [is] called indie, but I think the word 'indie' gets [overused] quite a bit and I've always felt uncomfortable about that because I came from a rock background.

I grew up with rock music and music [with a] hard edge to it. I feel like it still comes across as an intention with the music I do.

But I also have my mind heavily [on] generating interesting beats and grooves from the fact that I drum on the music.

I like the term beat ... because it also represents this kind of self-knowing, cool, abstract, deliberately cryptic approach to words.
