Bed shortage for HK's next generation

High costs, long distances from hometowns and troublesome journeys are not stopping pregnant mainland women from coming to Hong Kong's hospitals. This makes me worry about local mothers.

Recently, a flood of mainland mothers has come to Hong Kong to give birth. Now there is a serious shortage of beds for local mothers, let alone non-locals. This is a pressing problem that is worrying Hong Kong as well as mainland authorities.

The main reason for this phenomenon is China's one-child policy. Those who want more than one child come to Hong Kong to give birth. It would be better to let families in mainland cities that need more manpower and have enough economic capacity, like Shanghai, to have more than one child.

It is a shame pregnant local mothers do not have enough maternity beds. Where will our next generation be born?
