ON November 26, around 3.30pm, I went to the URBTIX box office in Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre, to buy tickets for Faye Wong's concert. When I told a member of staff I wanted to buy tickets, without looking up, he quickly wrote down a phone number (7349009) and told me to ring it. He did not explain why I should do so. Nevertheless, I dialled the number straight away and was told that I had got through to the booking section and that tickets were available at all URBTIX box offices. I was upset that the member of staff had declined to sell me the tickets without an explanation, so I went back and demanded an explanation. The member of staff said he couldn't sell tickets, because the computer had broken down. I was not satisfied with this explanation and so I asked to see the manager and she confirmed that the computer was not working. She had also been present when I initially approached the box office. Why was I given a phone number to ring in the first place, without any explanation? Surely, the staff at the box office could have told me straight away that the computer was down. I believe there is substantial room for improvement in the attitude of URBTIX box office staff.
