THE Business Council will, in its next meeting, look into measures to publicise the main issues it discusses, said Secretary for Trade and Industry Brian Chau Tak-hay.
The term of the first batch of council members expires this month and their last meeting was held on November 29.
A government spokesman said the appointments for the next term would be made in the next couple of days.
'There is absolutely no question of scrapping the council. It is only a matter of expiry of terms and appointments,' she said.
Mr Chau said a total of 12 meetings had been held and the average attendance rate was 84 per cent.
The council had discussed a wide range of issues, which had an impact on the economy and the conduct of business in Hong Kong, including inflation, competition, labour shortages, retirement protection, corruption and business ethics.
Mr Chau said the 'candid views' offered by members 'have been extremely helpful in enabling the Governor and the senior officials represented on the council to appreciate the business sector's perspectives on these issues'.
