In the early 20th century, writer Gertrude Stein (seen in painting by Picasso) and her art critic brother, Leo, were known for collecting art - much of which was deemed unappealing. These works, by artists such as Matisse, Cezanne, Bonnard, Vallotton and Picasso, are now on display at the Grand Palais as part of an exhibition showcasing the lives of the Steins. The exhibition ends next Sunday.
London
The Gagosian Gallery has dedicated all its locations worldwide to a comprehensive showing of British artist Damien Hirst's spot paintings (official title: 'The Complete Spot Paintings 1986-2011'). The London location, along with venues in New York, Paris, Hong Kong and more, opened the exhibition last Thursday. Visitors with the time, and the funds, to visit all 11 Gagosian venues will receive a print autographed by Hirst.
Taipei
In the first of a trifecta of gigs last week, Radiohead said they would be playing at Taipei's Nangang Exhibition Hall in July. A few days later, Thom Yorke and company announced headlining gigs at April's Coachella and July's Fuji Rock festivals, in southern California and Japan respectively.
