POLICE yesterday gave the coroner's office a report on their investigation into the October 14 killing of a gunman and his Korean hostage, Kang Sang-bo.

The report contains assessments of ballistics, forensic studies, and even weather conditions.

'The report is in the hands of the coroner and there is nothing more the police can say about this episode,' Senior Inspector Trevor Oakes said.

Kang died in the back seat of a hijacked taxi during a gun battle in Aberdeen between police and ex-convict Cheung Cho-yau.

Controversy erupted when forensic reports said that Kang, 31, had died of wounds to the forehead and upper chest from bullets fired by a police officer outside the taxi.

The taxi driver said Kang attempted to wrestle the gun from his captor when the shots were fired.
