Recall of induction cookers over shock risk

Owners of Sanki induction cookers - model number SK-IC810 sold in the city between March and November last year - should cease using the product because of the risk of electric shock. Owners should call Sanki's hotline, 3563 7680, to organise a replacement, the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department said.

Former villager charged with electoral corruption

Keith Paul Wong Kwok-pong, 39, was charged on Wednesday with corruption in last January's village representative elections, the Independent Commission Against Corruption said. Wong, who was released on bail, is accused of voting in his former village, Tai Mei Tuk, Tai Po, despite having moved to Hong Kong Island in 2006. He will appear in Fanling court today.

Russian in court for alleged bomb hoax

A 27-year-old Russian appeared in Tsuen Wan Court charged with making a bomb hoax on an Asian Airlines flight from the Philippines. Alexey Draganov claimed there was a bomb in his backpack because he was unhappy with the flight attendants' handling of his luggage, the court was told. No plea was entered and the case was adjourned to today.
