Chief executive hopeful Henry Tang Ying-yen will release his long-awaited political platform this week, his campaign office says.

The office confirmed the news yesterday after Priscilla Lau Pui-king, a Hong Kong deputy to the National People's Congress, said the former chief secretary had pledged to send his manifesto to members of the Election Committee 'in the next couple of days'.

Tang is the only candidate who has not unveiled his political platform. He has said he would not debate with the other three candidates unless all of them had prepared their manifestos and had been officially nominated.

Tang said his political platform, which was at the final drafting stage, would be a 'written version of things said on various occasions'.

His main rival, Leung Chun-ying, has released his policies at various stages over the past few weeks and Tang has been under pressure to unveil his platform after the popularity gap between himself and Leung widened in poll results released on Sunday.

Some members of the 1,200-strong Election Committee that will choose the next leader have complained of Tang's delay.
