Prosecutor Patty Lee said Chan Chiu-ai, 32, went to the Standard Chartered Bank in Un Chau Street, Cheung Sha Wan, on May 13 and approached teller Yun Kit-ling.

Chan placed a shopping bag on the counter and presented a note stating there was a remote control bomb in the bag.

The teller handed $3,000 to Chan and the bank alarm and video cameras were activated. Chan then fled.

The bag and the note were left at the counter. The fake bomb was a loudspeaker magnet inside a box.
