A MAN denied assaulting a senior government official and damaging his umbrella following a street incident. Chung Wun-to, 21, who appeared at Western Court, is alleged to have snatched the umbrella belonging to David Climas, 46, and stamped on it, cutting Mr Climas' hand in the process. This is said to have occurred after Mr Climas, Principal Assistant Secretary of the Works Branch, brushed Chung with the umbrella as he walked along Conduit Road, Mid-Levels, on his way to work on Thursday. Chung, unemployed, of Whampoa Garden, Hunghom, pleaded not guilty to assaulting Mr Climas, causing him actual bodily harm. He also denied causing criminal damage to the umbrella. Magistrate Mary Yuen released Chung on bail until next year for trial.
