Media veteran wants to rent Donald's dumped flat

Media veteran Stephen Shiu Yeuk-yuen, owner of pro-democracy online radio station Hong Kong Reporter, has offered to pay HK$3 million to mainland tycoon Bill Wong Cho-bau to rent for three years the 6,500-square-foot, three-storey penthouse in East Pacific Garden, Shenzhen, that Wong had agreed to rent to Donald Tsang Yam-kuen as the chief executive's retirement home. Shiu said he wanted the same tenancy deal as Tsang. If Wong rejected his offer, he said, it would imply that the HK$3 million was not market price as Wong and Tsang had claimed in the face of a public outcry.

Award for top-grossing film Let the Bullets Fly

Action comedy Let the Bullets Fly will receive a special award at the 6th Asian Film Awards as last year's top-grossing Asian film. The film, written and directed by Jiang Wen and starring Chow Yun-fat, Ge You and Carina Lau Kar-ling, has also become the highest grossing Chinese-language film of all time. The awards ceremony takes place at the Exhibition and Convention Centre in Wan Chai on March 19. In just over a month, the movie grossed 730 million yuan (HK$896 million).

Hospitals see 6,500 a day as flu peak hits

The number of people attending public hospital accident and emergency departments has surged to an average of 6,500 a day over the past week, 12 per cent up on the usual daily average of 5,800, the Hospital Authority said. The increase was due to the peak of the flu season. Monday saw more than 7,700 people, mainly suffering flu symptoms, seeking treatment.
