BANK of America has appointed Frances S. Taylor as managing director of BA Asia Ltd, the Hong Kong-based merchant banking subsidiary. She will be responsible for all of the bank's corporate banking and capital raising activities in Asia. These include local currency and US dollar loan syndications and private placements, project finance and client advisory. In addition, she will be responsible for helping Asian issuers access the US corporate debt markets through BA Securities. SALOMON Brothers Hong Kong has appointed John K. Wang as director of investment banking and country head for Taiwan. Mr Wang will be responsible for managing all origination and advisory work coming from Taiwan and for developing relationships with Taiwanese entities to help them with their financing needs in international capital markets. He will also be responsible for developing a Taiwan-based investment team. HELEN LAW has been appointed vice-president of finance and development of Dynasty International Hotel Corporation. Before joining the group, which operates hotels in China, Ms Law was director of projects at Regent International Hotels as well as director of Wealth Island Group, which focuses on land development on Lantau island. THE Fuji Bank has appointed Marco Leung as assistant general manager in charge of syndication and correspondent banking at its Hong Kong branch. Akio Uno has taken over from Akira Yamaga as manager in charge of Japanese customers. Mr Yamaga returns to Japan. NATWEST Markets has appointed John H. S. Teng as chief representative of Taiwan operations. NatWest Markets is the worldwide corporate and investment banking arm of National Westminster Bank group. Mr Teng will be responsible for further developing the group's business in Taiwan. He has more than 13 years' experience in the field of finance, 11 of which have been spent working in Taiwan. PROPERTY consultancy Jones Lang Wootton has appointed Albert T. Y. Lau as managing director of its recently opened office in Shanghai. Mr Lau, a chartered surveyor, has been a director at JLW's commercial department in Hong Kong for three years.
