Who started it? Maggie Wilson-Consunji was crowned Miss Philippines in 2007, which launched her career as a model and actress in her home country. While continuing to work in the entertainment business she is now the chief executive and head designer of Manila-based swimwear brand Wanderlust. The British-Filipina was raised in Saudi Arabia and it was there that she discovered her interest in travel. At 14, she moved to the Philippines, where her experience as a pageant contestant gave her an understanding of how a bikini can show off one's best assets.
Why we love it: Wanderlust's debut line of bikinis is versatile, with interchangeable tops and bottoms. We love the fact that the items cater to the shape and size of modern women. We also love the flattering retro twist to the designs.
What we'd pick: the Reversible Twists Bandeau two-piece (below left; HK$390) is the brand's signa- ture suit. The bandeau cut ensures minimal tan lines while the classic bottoms with Grecian belt help create the illusion of a slimmer figure. We also love the high-waisted retro suit (above left; HK$370). The bottoms can be worn retro style, high on the hips, to hide any lumps or bumps, or lower on the hips allowing for a more all over tan.
