Director Roy Chow Hin-yeung brings together a star-studded cast in his latest murder mystery, Nightfall.
Inspector Lam's (Simon Yam Tat-wah) career is going downhill. He is stubborn, and faces possible demotion. But with the murder of a celebrity musician named Tsui, Lam gets a chance to redeem himself and win back the respect of his peers.
Yet public interest in the case is high, which makes Lam's job much more difficult.
Almost anyone with a link to Tsui becomes a suspect. Lam's neck is on the line and his every move is being carefully watched.
One day, he meets a mysterious ex-convict named Wang (Nick Cheung Ka-fai), who was released from prison only a week before the murder. To make matters more complicated, Wang was sent to prison for the murder of one of Tsui's daughters. But he denies killing her.
A detective's instincts tell Lam that Wang is guilty. It appears he is out for revenge - and Suet (Janice Man Wing-san), Tsui's other daughter, may be the next target.
