The Japanese have a word for a period of time when a man suddenly becomes popular with women.Yet moteki comes less often and passes more quickly than one would like.
Moteki is also the name of a popular manga series, which was adapted for television and now film (English title: Love Strikes!).
Thirty-year-old Yukiyo (Mirai Moriyama) isn't popular with women. He's always been socially awkward and had little luck with romance.
One day he meets fellow journalist Miyuki (Masami Nagasawa) via Twitter. He's instantly mesmerised by her beauty, and a budding friendship/mild romance develops.
The arrival of Rumiko (Kumiko Aso) confirms Yukiyo is having his moteki moment. She's smitten, too, but she's also friends with Miyuki. Yukiyo's change of fortune with the fairer sex triggers many complications.
Yet two women vying for your heart is hardly strong moteki in my book.
