THE Liberal Party spent around $2 million on September's district board elections, said party treasurer James Tien Pei-chun.

Each of the 89 candidates got between $10,000 and $20,000 in financial assistance, with the rest spent on general publicity.
'I can say categorically that the party has not exceeded its budget on the elections,' Mr Tien said.
Nobody in the party had accused former member Ada Wong Ying-kay of overspending, he said.
Ms Wong, in charge of the September elections, left the party last week.

Party sources have said she spent too much on election materials and not enough on specific campaign work.
