The hot conditions were getting to Tye Angland yesterday and he was stood down by the doctor from his final ride due to dehydration, but not before he managed to get the day's wages with Sammy's Falcon. At odds of just over 50-1, Sammy's Falcon was something of a surprise winner, as was his running style sitting up handy to the pace for a change. The gelding went clear in the straight to win comfortably over favourite Good Hong Kong in the style of a serious chance, not a despised outsider. 'He drew a good barrier with some speed inside him and so I punched him out of the gates and pushed him early,' Angland said. 'He has been good to me Sammy.'
