Car lovers and Francophiles gathered in the Centenary Room of the Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel to celebrate the opening of Hong Kong's first showroom for Citroen's DS concept line, now open for business on Gloucester Road, Wan Chai. Eager enthusiasts took turns exploring the new Citroen DS3 and DS4 models on display, checking under the bonnet and kicking the tyres. Then, after being treated to a series of Citroen commercials on a big screen, and speeches from the power players at Citroen, guests raised a toast to the union of AutoFrance Hong Kong and Automobiles Citroen, and dug into a feast featuring the greatest hits of Cantonese fine dining. Diners at the event on Thursday snacked on sliced abalone with vegetables and goose web, and double-boiled bird's nest in superior soup under a slideshow of the Eiffel Tower and the French countryside. Soul and Mandopop star Khalil Fong made a surprise appearance and entertained the crowd with renditions of jazz standards and Mandarin classics. Fong said he had a lot in common with the DS4 - both are light and compact. Although Fong confessed to not having a Hong Kong driver's licence, he said that the new Citroen models might just be the incentive he needs to get behind the wheel.
