THE Michael Chang Show rolled into town once again with all the trimmings of his previous appearances.
The young, adoring female fans and the picture-snapping press were on hand to greet Hong Kong's hero who has visited the territory at least 10 times before but remains as popular as ever.
Chang, who arrived here with his elder brother Carl, is in town for the Panasonic Super Challenge exhibition with tennis legend John McEnroe and brother Patrick which takes place at the Hong Kong Stadium tomorrow. Chang, the 1989 French Open champion, said he was looking forward to his encounter with McEnroe.
'It's been a few years since I last played him,' said Chang, whose only victory over McEnroe in five encounters was in the round of 32 at the 1992 US Open.
'I always look forward to playing John. I first played him in 1988 and I have only beaten him once.' Chang, the world number six, said playing in Hong Kong should help him lift his win record against the three-time Wimbledon champion, who has since quit the ATP Tour.
'The atmosphere should be great. The music should be great. It's going to be exciting. This is just about my last tournament of the year so I'd like to end it on a high note,' he said.
